Harrowell (Pty) Ltd (“Harrowell”, “we”) is responsible for the personal information described on this page. You can reach us about it at elad@harrowell.co.

What we hold

When we think Harrowell could help a business, we may note the business contact details of the people who run it: name, role, company, business email address and business phone number. We take these from public sources only, such as company websites, public business directories, business press and professional profiles. We don’t buy contact lists.

If you write to us or speak with us, we also keep what you tell us and the messages we exchange.

What we use it for

To contact you about Harrowell’s work, to follow up on conversations you’ve chosen to have with us, and to keep a record of what we’ve sent, so that we never contact you after you’ve asked us not to.

Why we’re allowed to

We rely on our legitimate interest in contacting businesses we may be able to help, and we keep that contact short and relevant to your business. Where the law that applies to you requires consent before marketing email, we ask for it once, and we stop if you don’t give it.

Who else sees it

A small number of service providers process information for us to run our business: our email provider (Fastmail), our website host (Vercel), the AI tools we use to research and write (Anthropic), and the service where we keep our working notes (GitHub). Some of them store data outside South Africa and the UK, under contracts that require them to protect it. We don’t sell your information or share it with anyone else.

How long we keep it

If we don’t start working together, we delete your details within 12 months of our last contact. If you ask us to stop contacting you, we keep only your name and email address on a do-not-contact list, so that we can make sure we never contact you again.

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. Our host keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or tell us to stop contacting you, at any time, by writing to elad@harrowell.co. We act on requests to stop straight away, and on other requests within 30 days.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator in South Africa or the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.
