The Open Build: terms
Last updated 5 October 2026
1. What it is
The Open Build is a free-to-enter promotion run by Harrowell (the “promoter”, “we”). We will choose one company and, free of charge, run the diagnostic, build one AI workflow in one division of that company, and run it for three months, in public. Entry is free and no purchase is needed. The winner is chosen by judgement against the published criteria in section 6, not by chance.
2. Who can apply
- Companies registered in the United Kingdom with roughly 50 to 500 staff that distribute or wholesale goods, run several retail stores, or manufacture.
- The application must come from an owner or director who can commit the company.
- One application per company. Applications that are incomplete, misleading or sent after the closing date are not considered.
- We may decline an application where there is a conflict of interest, including companies connected with Harrowell’s founder.
3. Dates
- Applications open on 5 October 2026 and close at 5pm UK time on Friday 6 November 2026.
- Shortlisted companies are contacted by Wednesday 11 November 2026 for a 30-minute call.
- The winner is told and announced at harrowell.co/open-build by Friday 13 November 2026.
- The build starts within two weeks of the winner signing the agreement in section 5.
4. What the winner gets
- The diagnostic: the division, the number it lives by, its current baseline, the one workflow we will build and what “done” means, agreed in writing.
- The build of that one workflow, live within six working weeks of the start, with a person at the company approving the system’s work before anything reaches a customer or supplier.
- Three months of us running it from go-live, with a written report on the KPI against its baseline each month.
The prize has no cash alternative and cannot be transferred. Software the company already pays for stays the company’s. If the workflow would need a new paid service, we agree it with the company first, and the company is never obliged to buy anything.
5. What the winner gives
- A named owner of the workflow and about an hour a week of their time during the build and the three months.
- Access to the data and systems the workflow needs, under a written agreement, including a data processing agreement, signed before any data is shared.
- Permission for us to publish a weekly build log and the measured result, whatever it turns out to be, along with the company’s name. The company approves every post before it is published, and anything commercially sensitive stays private.
If the winner cannot sign the agreement within two weeks of being told, we may offer the prize to the next company on the shortlist.
6. How the winner is chosen
Applications are judged against four criteria: (1) the division already tracks a KPI that the workflow should move; (2) there is enough volume, roughly 20 or more orders or quote requests a day, arriving in a form we can read, and a system we can draft into; (3) an owner or director will own it and agrees to publication; (4) the workflow can honestly be live and measured in the time.
AI tools help us read and sort applications. Elad Cohen, Harrowell’s founder, makes the shortlist and the final choice after a call with each shortlisted company. His decision is final. If no application meets the criteria, we will say so publicly and not choose a winner.
7. After the three months
There is no obligation. The company can carry on with us on our standard monthly terms, or we hand over what we built and switch our side off. Either way, we publish the measured result.
8. Everyone who applies
Every complete application gets a one-page read of the workflow it describes, sent by email within one working day. We may also contact applicants about Harrowell’s work; you can tell us to stop at any time. How we handle the information you send is in our privacy notice.
9. Responsibility
The system drafts; the company’s people decide. We are not responsible for decisions the company makes using the system’s drafts, except where the law does not allow us to exclude responsibility. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
10. Changes
We will only change or cancel the Open Build if something outside our reasonable control makes it impossible to run as described. If that happens, we will tell every applicant by email and explain why.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
